Lewis Hamilton clinches victory in rain-soaked Brazilian Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton has kept alive his quest to be crowned Formula 1 drivers' champion for a third year in a row, after winning the rain soaked Brazilian Grand Prix.

The race had to be halted on a number of occasions, with the safety car often deployed due to the high levels of percipitation, at points to the frustration of the drivers.

"It is not even wet now," Hamilton was heard saying over the team radio. "It is normal wet conditions. I don’t know why we are stopping."

Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg was second, meaning the German leads Hamilton by 12 points going into the final race of the season in Abu Dhabi later this month.

Rosberg could have in fact lifted the championships with a victory in South America, but the British driver showed all of his experience in incredibly difficult decisions to force the championship right to the wire.

Rosberg will have to secure a top-three finish in Abu Dhabi in a fortnight’s time to guarantee a maiden title.
