First Division high-flyers Limerick FC have released a statement stating they "utterly refute" the comments made by former player Jordan Moore.

The Scottish striker joined the club at the start of the season, but has already returned home after an unhappy spell in Limerick. In an interview with the Daily Record, Moore spoke about the issues he had living in Bruff and getting paid wages by the club.

Limerick revealed on Tuesday night they were "hurt, angered and dumbfounded" by Moore's comments. The 22-year-old claims his comments were "taken out of context".

The club admitted that Moore's deal was initially a short-term one, and was lengthened by the striker. "A representative for Jordan Moore contacted the club earlier this year and informed us of Jordan’s background and his recovery from cancer. As a community-driven club, we offered Jordan a short-term deal to assist in his rehabilitation and provided him with accommodation and remuneration."

Moore was living in a former convent, which is now owned by Limerick FC, in Bruff. His comments about the Limerick town caused a lot of issues with the local community.

“There must be 20 horses in every street you walk down. Where we stayed it was crazy. But if you tried to cut the horses loose then they would kill you – supposedly."

The First Division leaders will not be making anymore comments, as they "seek further advice".
