Lionel Messi claims he could perform on a wet and windy Wednesday night in Stoke

One of football's great mysteries has finally been solved.

Lionel Messi has claimed he could play on a wet and windy night in Stoke according to journalist Guillem Balague.

Balague was speaking to Stoke City's Bojan Krkic when the topic of Messi was brought up. Messi and Krkic played together at Barcelona between 2007 and 2011 and won multiple La Liga and Champions League titles together.

When asked by Balague about Messi's abilty to play in Stoke, Krkic laughed before answering; "Messi can do it of course! I understand that teams don't like to come especially in winter to the Britania Stadium, especially with the wind and the cold."

Balague added that he asked Messi the famous question. "I asked Messi about that. He said, 'Those people that say that should realise I played in awful conditions in Rosario when I was 11 years old, with glass on the pitch, with holes and everything".

So there you have it. If Messi can play on the glass-ridden pitches of Rosario, he would easily perform on a pristine Premier League pitch, no matter how wet and windy it was on a Wednesday night.
