Lionel Messi is suffering his worst scoring drought in six years

Barcelona have endured a tough time as of late, what with their Champions League exit last night to Atletico Madrid, their defeat against Real Madrid in El-Clasico and the fact that they've lost four of their last five matches.

It may come as no surprise that this rough patch has coincided with Lionel Messi's worst goal drought since April 2010.

The little Argentinian has gone 452 without a goal in a run spanning five matches, looking to eclipse his previous run without a goal (474 minutes).

Messi continues his search for a 450th career goal, having been stuck of 449 for games against Atletico Madrid (2), Real Madrid, Real Sociedad and Villarreal.

Barcelona's lead at the top of La Liga has been trimmed to three points, with both Madrid clubs hot on their tails.

Messi has scored 22 league goals so far this season, his fewest since the 2008/09 season where he managed 23. Cristiano Ronaldo, by comparison, has scored 30+ goals in his last six consecutive seasons for Real Madrid in the league.
