Liverpool fans need to be "told the truth" over Daniel Sturridge's injuries

One former European Cup winner with Liverpool has demanded that Jurgen Klopp reveal the extent of Daniel Sturridge's injury problems.

Dietmar Hamann was speaking yesterday on British radio station TalkSport and accused his German compatriot Klopp of keeping the Liverpool fans in the dark over the 26-year-old's injuries.

"If he has got a hamstring injury, an ankle injury, or whatever he may have, the people who pay for a season ticket have got a right to know what is wrong with him."

Sturridge has played only six times for Liverpool this season, with three of those games coming during Klopp's reign. He has scored four goals, including two against Southampton in the League Cup. He has not trained with the Liverpool squad for six weeks. He last played against Newcastle at the start of December.

“If there is nothing wrong with him, it is more important to be honest and truthful with the paying public than to protect a player who has hardly played in the last 18 months, who seems to choose when he wants to play", Hamann added.

Liverpool are back in action tonight. They play Exeter City in their FA Cup Third Round Replay.
