The Liverpool player is set to appear in court later this week
Roberto Firmino looks set to miss Liverpool's next fixture against Stoke on Tuesday, and perhaps a number of others, after the Brazilian was arrested for drink driving earlier this week.
According to The Independent, the Liverpool player was arrested on the morning of Saturday, December 24th, under the influence of alcohol.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Merseyside police said: "Merseyside Police has charged a 25-year-old man with drink driving after his car was stopped in Liverpool city centre in the early hours of Saturday, December 24 2016. Roberto Firmino, from Liverpool, will appear at Liverpool City Magistrates Court on January 31."
New Year's Eve, when Firmino is due in court, is also the day that Liverpool are set to take on Manchester City. Whether or not he plays in either game is up to the manager, Jurgen Klopp, who will be forced to make a decision ahead of his side's game against Stoke.
According to NBC, the club will not be issuing a statement "until the legal process has run its course."
