Luke Shaw withdrawn from English squad

Luke Shaw has been withdrawn from the English squad and returned to Manchester United after being 'rested from training'.

Details of why he was sent home remain unclear, but it has now plunged his availability for the Manchester derby next weekend into doubt.

“Luke Shaw has left the England camp and returned to Manchester United,” a statement read.

“The left-back was rested from training at St George’s Park this morning, with the medical team continuing to manage his workload.

“With Danny Rose set to start against Slovakia in Trnava tomorrow night, Shaw has been allowed to return to Manchester to train with his club as a precautionary measure. Sam Allardyce’s remaining 22 players all travelled out to Slovakia this afternoon.”

Any injury would be considered a blow for the 21-year-old as he has only just returned to action following a horrific leg break against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League last year.

However, initial reports suggest that it may not be an injury as the reason he has been sent home.
