Irish boxer is out of the Rio games
David Oliver Joyce has saluted his opponent Albert Selimov after his elimination from Rio 2016.
The Azerbaijani boxer defeated the Athy fighter by unanimous decision in the men's lightweight Round of 16 bout.
"Tough fight, what can I say. He's a true champion and a really good guy. [He's a] world silver medallist, second best in the world at the minute but we knew getting into it today that it was going to be an uphill battle," he said to Newstalk's Richie McCormack.
"I gave it everything I could in there and at least I can get out and I can say that I tried everything and the better man won."
Joyce also added that he will take time off and decide his next steps after returning from holidays.
