Manchester City hoping to keep hold of Sergio Aguero

Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has described rumours that the club are looking to sell star striker Sergio Aguero as "ridiculous".

The Argentinian has been linked with a move away from the Etihad in recent months and have grown since the arrival of Gabriel Jesus.

However the club's hierarchy have moved to quash any speculation that he will leave.

Asked whether the goal-scorer would be at the club next season, chairman Al Mubarak told the club's official website: "Absolutely, there has never been a doubt about that.

"Now I've read a lot about the speculation on this and it's ridiculous. Sergio Aguero is one of the best players in the world and we are a team that aspires to win in every competition we compete in."

He added: "Having Sergio Aguero part of the squad is an absolute must and it has never been in doubt."

The hitman scored 20 goals last season as City struggled to a third place finish, 15 points behind champions Chelsea.
