Manchester City start summer clear-out with three confirmed departures

Willy Caballero, Gael Clichy and Jesus Navas will all leave Manchester City this summer as Pep Guardiola begins rebuilding his current squad over the next few months.

The announcements, made on Thursday afternoon, were just hours apart as a number of fringe players prepare to depart the club.

Navas will leave after the expiration of his current deal with the club, having joined Manchester City from Sevilla in 2013. During his four years with the club he made 183 appearances. He will now be a free agent when his contract runs out at the end of June.

Frenchman Gael Clichy leave the club this summer with numerous honours under his belt during his six-year spell at Manchester City.

"It's been a special six years for me at City," the 31-year-old said in a statement today.

"To win four major trophies and help establish the club as one of the top teams in English football has been an incredible journey that I'm proud to have been a part of."

Goalkeeper Willy Caballero will also go in search of a new club this summer. The Argentine goalkeeper will leave the club this summer and will be remembered for his penalty-saving heroics in the 2016 League Cup final against Liverpool.

"It’s been a privilege to play for Manchester City," he said. "From the first day I arrived, everyone at the club has made me feel welcome and I will always be grateful to them.

"To win the League Cup in such dramatic circumstances was special and it’s a day I will never forget."

It was announced on Wednesday that Bacary Sagna would also be leaving the club this summer.
