Manchester United lift the FA Cup thanks to a super strike by Jesse Lingard

Manchester United have won the FA Cup for the first time since 2007 thanks to a Jesse Lingard strike in extra-time.

In what many reports have suggested is Louis van Gaal's last game as the manager of Manchester United, he has given the United board plenty to ponder ahead of a long summer.

Palace took the lead thanks to a Jason Puncheon volley late on in normal time leaving United just 12 minutes to respond. They did just that three minutes later when a Juan Mata volley found its way over the line.

Pardew's men looked to gain an advantage when Chris Smalling was given his second yellow and his marching order for pulling down Yannick Bolasie as he tried to break free from United's defense.

As Mark Clattenburg blew the whistle for half-time in extra-time, it was United with all the work to do.

That was just before Jesee Lingard struck an excellent volley that left Wayne Hennessey and every player in Palace's defense flat-footed and watch the ball hit the very top corner of the net.
