Stoke boss Mark Hughes isn't getting too excited about stories linking him with Chelsea.

Reports are growing that he is under consideration to take over at Stamford Bridge in the summer.

The Londoners have Guus Hiddink in charge right now, but he is not being viewed as a long-term successor to Jose Mourinho.

Hughes played for Chelsea between 1995 and 1998.

"There's speculation about certain roles in the Premier League at the moment and at some point, if you have a decent spell, you get mentioned in dispatches. No more, no less than that. I think everybody tries to cover all based and tries to mention everybody," he said.

His Stoke side were knocked out of the Capital One Cup semi-finals by Liverpool on penalties, while the Potters are ninth in the Premier League.
