Martin O'Neill emphasises pride in Ireland's Parisian performance

Martin O'Neill has praised his players for delivering a "magnificent" performance in the 1-1 draw with Sweden.

The Ireland manager's side delivered a decent display at the Stade de France, although they fell short of victory in Paris.

Dominant in the first half with the lion's share of the chances, Ireland could have been in front at the break with Jeff Hendrick coming closest when he hit the crossbar.

After the break, Wes Hoolahan put the Boys in Green ahead, until a 71st minute own goal by Ciaran Clark but overall the team performance was impressive and O'Neill concurred with that assessment.

"I thought they were magnificent, played some really great football," he said.

"Really great football. We should have been at least in front by half-time in the game. I thought we were very, very dominant."

O'Neill also added that not taking all the chances created was the reason why they only managed to take one point from the game.
