"Message received" - Liverpool owners explain why they are making a U-turn on ticket prices

Liverpool have done a U-turn on plans to raise ticket prices, after protests from fans.

Some supporters were unhappy with proposals for a £77 seat for next season, with thousands walking out of their weekend game at home to Sunderland.

Current prices have now been frozen for the next two campaigns.

Liverpool's owners FSG explained why they have backed down.

"The widespread opposition to this element of the plan has made it clear that we were mistaken," he said.

"A great many of you have objected strongly to the £77 price level of our most expensive GA seats and expressed a clear expectation that the club should forego any increased revenue from raising prices on GA tickets in the current environment.

"Message received."
