Michael Conlan seals pro move by joining Top Rank promotions

Michael Conlan has confirmed his move from amateur to professional boxing by signing up for the Top Rank promotion run by legendary promoter Bob Arum.

The 2012 Olympic bronze medallist and world champion had signalled that such a move was on the cards after the Olympic controversy which saw him adjudged to have lost a fight to Russian boxer Vladimir Nikitin despite many observers calling the bout in the other direction.

He now joins Arum's US-based group.

The 24-year-old joins Manny Pacquiao on the books of Top Rank.

Earlier, Conlan's Olympic team-mate, fellow Belfast boxer and close friend Paddy Barnes also confirmed his move into the pro ranks after joining the Matthew Macklin-run MGM team.
