Michael Conlan looks set to make his professional boxing debut on St Patrick's Day next year, with a bout set for Madison Square Garden.

The announcement was made today over Twitter by his promoted Bob Arum.

Details of who he will fight are still yet to be released, but Conlan also expressed his excitement to get going on what looks set to be a promising professional career.

The Belfast boxer signed with Bob Arum's team, Top Rank Promotions, this week after flying out to the US to meet with the prospective promoter.

The 24-year-old said he was finished fighting in the amateur ranks after losing out in the Olympic Games following some judging which drew criticism from around the world.
