Michael Darragh MacAuley looks back on a "special day at the office"

Ballyboden St-Enda’s claimed their first AIB All-Ireland senior club football title this afternoon with a resounding 13-point victory over Castlebar Mitchels.

An early goal from Colm Basquel sent the Dublin club on their way and Michael Darragh MacAuley says that everything came together on the day.

"It was a special day in the office," he began, "One of those days where things just kind of fell for us. It was a strange atmosphere, things just went over the bar for us when we needed them too and then in the same respect, some of Castlebar's shots would have dropped on another day."

MacAuley himself managed to get one score from play and was quick to turn the attention onto his teammates' commitment.

"There was a bit of luck there but don't get it wrong, this was about hard work all year. The lads came through and played to the very end.

"There's so much experience there and we've grown so much as a team throughout this championship. If we were given that match six months ago, we probably wouldn't have known what to do with an eight-point lead.

"We learned that lesson in the Dublin final against St. Vincent's and kept our heads."
