Michael Hoey falters during final round in Dehli

Michael Hoey's challenge at the Hero Indian Open faded in the final round, after a disappointing 77 left him 10 shots off the pace.

Hoey began the day on three-under par and within touching distance of a finish in the top three. With S.S.P Chawrasia looking to streak clear of the field after back-to-back rounds of 67 and 68, Hoey failed to keep the pressure on the Indian native.

Instead, the 38-year-old could only manage seven pars on the front nine, registering bogeys on six and nine. His luck changed with a birdie on 14, but bogeys on 15 and 17 saw him finish his round on three-over. He slipped back to level par for the tournament and just one stroke outside the top five.

Chawrasia ran out winner this afternoon, but had to endure a mixed final round. Four birdies and three bogeys saw him card a final round of 71 to finish seven strokes clear of Gavin Green.

There were only three players in the top eight players shot under par rounds during the final 18 holes.

Ireland's Paul Dunne missed the cut on Friday afternoon, finishing on 11-over par after rounds of 72 and 83.
