Michael Hoey overtakes Paul Dunne in South Africa

Michael Hoey has hit a 2-under par round of 70 on Day 3 of the Alfred Dunhill Championship.

The Northern Irish golfer sits on 6-under for the tournament, one ahead of Paul Dunne who hit a level par 72.

Dunne had shared the lead after Day 1 but dropped a shot yesterday to fall back into the pack.

Hoey did not score a birdie or bogey on the front nine but back-nine birdies on the 13th, 15th and 18th more than cancelled a bogey on the 12th.

Double bogeys on both the 2nd and 10th holes cost Dunne on an otherwise solid scorecard featuring five birdies and a bogey.

Home favourite Brandon Stone leads the way on 17-under, holding a three shot lead into Sunday's final round.

Charl Schwartzel and Keith Horne of South Africa share a tie for second with England's Chris Hanson on 14-under.
