Mick Cooke's LOI Premier Division predictions

The SSE Airtricity League continues again this Friday with a couple of decent match-ups in the Premier Division.

Ahead of Friday's action, former Drogheda United and Bray Wanderers manager Mick Cooke made his predictions for Newstalk.com.

Bray Wanderers vs Sligo Rovers

After a slight blip, Bray remain third and have a chance to cement that position against a Sligo Rovers involved in a frantic battle against relegation.

Mick says: "Bray dropping five points in their last two games is very disappointing for them but I Sligo themselves dropped five points as well and with home advantage, I think Bray will beat Sligo this weekend. But it has certainly been a disappointing couple of games for Harry Kenny and Bray."

Mick's Prediction: "Three points at home for Bray".

Cork City vs Shamrock Rovers

Two of the biggest names in the League of Ireland do battle with Cork a full 15 points clear at the top and Rovers' inconsistency leaving them outside the Top Four.

"From last weekend's Friday and Monday games, amazingly Cork were the only side to pick up six points, while Rovers won one and lost one," says Mick.

"You would imagine Cork at home will be just that bit too physically strong for Shamrock Rovers. Rovers are very, very good technically but there are too many passes going nowhere."

Prediction: "Three points for Cork".

Drogheda United vs Derry City

"To draw with Bray was a great result for them," says Mick of Drogheda who are among the bottom five sides separated by a single point.

"Derry, on the other hand, won one and drew one , beating Rovers 3-1 which is a great one. In the context of this game, I think Derry are getting back to where they were and that draw away to Dundalk will have given them great confidence."

Prediction: "I'll go for a Derry win."

Galway United vs Bohemians

Bohs are two points above the bottom three while Galway are among the four bottom sides with 14 points.

Mick says: "You would think the late winner against Harps will build Galway's confidence but then their result on Monday night was very poor, very lacklustre."

Prediction: "I'll go for a draw in this one."

St Pats vs Dundalk

St Pats are yet to fully separate themselves from the battle at the bottom while Dundalk are still a long distance behind Cork in the battle to win the league.

Mick says: "Pats were beaten by half time at Finn Harps on Monday night and it was a very disappointing result for them. Dundalk would have been expecting a win at home against Derry and they did get a great win at Limerick on the Friday. On form, it should be Dundalk's."

Prediction: "A win for Dundalk."

Finn Harps vs Limerick

Limerick remain well inside the top half while Harps are bottom but level on points with the three sides above them after beating Pats in Ballybofey.

"In the last couple of games, both Limerick and Harps were able to get their first wins in five," says Mick.

"Fantastic win for Harps certainly, beating Pats at home. I think Harps' physicality vs Limerick's football prowess, I would be tempted to go for a draw."

Prediction: "A draw in a tight match."
