Middleweight knockout sensation Gennady Golovkin to fight at Madison Square Garden in March

Middleweight king Gennady "GGG" Golovkin will face Daniel Jacobs in Madison Square Garden on March 18th.

The fight pits two of the top middleweights in the world against one another with Jacobs heading into the fight on a 12 fight win streak - having stopped all 12 inside the distance.

Golovkin is arguably the most feared boxer on the planet at the moment as the unbeaten Kazakh boasts an impressive unbeaten record in 36 professional fights - having stopped all but three of his opponents.

The pair will fight for the IBF, IBO, WBC and WBA world middleweight titles with the winner likely to face off against Mexican star and WBO title-holder Saul "Canelo" Alvarez next September.

The card could also be of huge interest to Irish fans with Eddie Hearn confirming in November that he was in discussions with Golovkin's promoter, Tom Loeffler, about having Katie Taylor fight on the undercard.

Hearn said: “It looks like we’re set for 18 March at Madison Square Gardens after discussions with Tom Loeffler over the weekend. It’s a huge opportunity for Katie Taylor."

If Taylor were to fight in MSG on St. Patrick's weekend, there would surely be a noticable Irish contingent in the crowd.

Taylor is currently two fights into her profesional career and has won both bouts comfortably as she establishes herself in the paid ranks.
