Mourinho on the brink as Klopp picks up first BPL win

Chelsea 1

Liverpool 3

Liverpool have secured their first Premier League win under Jurgen Klopp, coming away from Stamford Bridge with all three points and heaping further pressure on Jose Mourinho.

Phillipe Coutinho's double and Christian Benteke's fourth of the season twisted the knife a little deeper into the Special One, after Ramires' early goal seemed to have given Liverpool the Blues.

The result means a first victory on the road for Liverpool since the opening weekend while Chelsea are now on a run of only one win in eight games.

Its a sixth league defeat, and ninth overall, for Chelsea this season, and the Champions poor run of form has left Mourinho fighting for his job, with chants of “You’re getting sacked in the morning!” ringing round Stamford Bridge in the closing stages.

Mourinho made one change to his starting line-up with Cesar Azpilicueta coming in at left back and he repayed the faith immediately, crossing for Ramires to tuck home after steling in front of Alberto Moreno.

It was the perfect start for Chelsea and it allowed them to play the game on their terms, although Liverpool were far from finished. Despite not troubling Asmir Begovic in the first half, the Reds went in level at the break thanks to a sublime goal from Coutinho.

The Brazilian picked the ball up 30 yards out from goal, skipped by a weak Ramires challenge and curled one into the far post with his weaker foot.

The second half continued in much the same vein as the first, with the first flashpoint of note occurring when Lucas tripped Ramires, avoiding a yellow card.

Mark Clattenburg's failure to give the midfielder his marching orders left Mourinho in disbelief in the dugout, with sarcastic laughing and applause the order of the day before sitting back down.

Benteke then entered the fray in place of James Milner, and it was his knock-down that set Coutinho up for his second in the 74th minute, as his deflected effort left Begovic helpless.

Chelsea began chasing the game and Oscar went close with a long range effort that nearly caught Mignolet off his line but their fate was sealed when Benteke was given the freedom of London in the Chelsea box and struck low into the corner.

The result puts Liverpool into 7th and keeps Chelsea in 15th, five points clear of Newcastle before kick-off.
