Moyes wants Man United to stick with Van Gaal

David Moyes wants to see Manchester United give current manager Louis van Gaal more time in the job.

The Dutchman is under increasing pressure after a run of eight games without victory, but the man he succeeded thinks it would be unwise to make the change.

Speaking to Clare Balding on her BT Sports show, Moyes called for United to back their manager and avoid a revolving door of coaches in the post-Alex Ferguson era.

"I hope they stick with Louis van Gaal. He deserves more time," said Moyes.

"It's still a work in progress for him, he's made some signings and from my experience in Spain it will take time for players from abroad to settle in. So, I think they should stick with it. They don't want to become a club which continuously changes their manager."

Moyes was sacked by Real Sociedad in November, ending a year-long spell in La Liga.

He also suggested that he would take the United job again some day in the event that the opportunity were to re-arise: "Would I take the job again? Of course I would. There are very few managers in the world who wouldn’t want to manage Manchester United."

The interview is broadcast on The Clare Balding Show at 8pm on Thursday.
