Munster and Ulster both have new contract announcements

Munster and Ulster have both announced new contracts for key players.

Munster and the IRFU have announced that newly-Irish qualified CJ Stander has signed a two-year contract extension, which will see him remain with the province until at least June 2018.

The South African-born flanker says he is delighted with the new deal, saying that Munster is now "very much home" for him.

"I am delighted to be committing my future to Munster Rugby. This is very much home for me and it is a huge honour to represent the red jersey every week. I look forward to continuing my journey with the team and supporters," he said.

Meanwhile, Ulster hooker Rob Herring, has signed a similar length contract, which will see him continue to act as deputy for Rory Best and he also spoke about his time filling in as captain.

"Captaining Ulster while Rory was away at the World Cup was massive highlight for me and it was a proud moment that I'll remember forever," he said.

"I've really enjoyed my time at Ulster over the past three seasons. It's a top side in Europe and in the PRO12 and we're always pushing to win competitions, so it's a great place for me to be."
