Munster given a "reality check" before the Champions Cup

Munster failed to leave Dublin without even a losing bonus-point as they lost 25-14 to Leinster. However, CJ Stander claims the performance will give the team a "reality check" that they need ahead of a tough European clash.

Next weekend, Munster travel to France to face Racing 92 in the opening round of the Champions Cup. While Munster failed to get out of the pool last season, Racing reached the final where they lost to Saracens.

"We're going over to Paris and it's not going to be easy. We were defeated today, but luckily there is a lot to learn from today. It's going to hurt us. Next week there will be bitterness in us. We're going to use that going into Paris."

Munster had 13 turnovers in the game, and according to the Irish international, "you can't win a game with that. They scored two tries off our mistakes. If we looked after the ball a lot better, we would have had more opportunities."

Stander said he expected the game to be closer, despite the 11-point loss: "If you take away those two tries, it's 14-points and it's a close game."

Munster now lie in fourth place after the loss, with four wins from six games.
