NBA star Kevin Garnett has called an end to his playing career.

The 40-year-old, who won the NBA championship once in 2008 with Boston Celtics, ends an elite basketball career that began in 1995 with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

He spent 12 years at Minnesota as their star player where the 6 foot 11 power led the franchise to the playoffs between 1997 and 2004, as well as to the Western Conference Finals.

He then moved to Boston in 2007, where he spent six seasons, before a two-year spell at Brooklyn Nets and a final campaign at the Timberwolves in 2015-16.

Individually, he was named NBA MVP in 2004 and is a 15-time All-Star.
