Neale Fenn explains why he chose Longford Town over another year at Leyton Orient

New Longford Town manager Neale Fenn says a number of factors caused him to take the vacant manager's position at Longford Town.

Speaking on this week's Newstalk SSE Airtricity League Podcast, the former Shamrock Rovers, Bohemians, Dundalk and Cork City player said he was attracted to the idea of management after spending some time as assistant coach at Leyton Orient.

"I had never really thought about becoming a manager, but got the call to go over [to Leyton Orient]," he said. "I really enjoyed it and there was a chance that I could go back there. I thought about it but decided I'd apply for jobs over [in Ireland].

"As it happened the Longford manager's job came up pretty much straight after that. I applied for it, went through the interviews and here I am."

Fenn described Leyton Orient's financial situation behind the scenes as "an absolute nightmare" and said he felt it was time to step into full management.
