Neil Lennon confirmed as the new manager of Hibernian

Neil Lennon has returned to Scottish football to become the new manager of Edinburgh-side Hibernian.

The former Northern Ireland international last worked with Bolton Wanderers before he left by "mutual consent" in March. He returns to Scottish football after leaving Celtic at the end of the 2013-14 season.

At Celtic, Lennon won three Scottish Premier League titles and two Scottish Cups. He led the team to the last-16 of the Champions League in 2013, before the team were heavily beaten by Juventus.

Lennon joins a Hibernian side who have spent the past two seasons in the Scottish second-tier having lost in the play-offs in both seasons. The team will play in the Europa League next season, after previous manager Alan Stubbs guided the team to their first Scottish Cup win last month for the first time since 1902.

“We are delighted to have secured a Head Coach of Neil’s calibre and profile", Rod Petrie, Chairman of Hibernian, revealed. "We look forward to him bringing his drive and mentality to our campaign to win the Championship this season and secure promotion back to the top flight of Scottish football."

Lennon will be joined at the club by Garry Parker as his assistant. The two men played together at Leicester City and Parker has assisted Lennon at Celtic and Bolton Wanderers.
