New England fan claims he was "drunk" and "stupid" in setting off fire alarm at Steelers hotel

Sports fans will do all they can to give their team an advantage ahead of a big game.

Last Saturday night, New England Patriots fan Dennis Harrison allegedly went to far. He is accused to have pulled a fire alarm in the hotel of the Pittsburgh Steelers ahead of the AFC Championship game on Sunday. The Patriots went on to win the game and book their spot at Super Bowl LI.

Harrison appeared in court on Monday in Boston, charged with disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, and setting off a false fire alarm. According to the Boston Globe, the Patriots fan revealed, "I’m drunk. I’m stupid. I’m a Pats fan" in court.

Setting off the fire alarm as part of a dare, Harrison's accomplice fled the scene in a car, after the alarm went off, leaving the 25-year-old to walk back into the city from the hotel near Logan Airport. He was eventually caught by Boston Police.

"Harrison informed me that he knowingly and willingly activated the fire alarm system with the sole purpose of attempting to disrupt the Pittsburgh Steelers football team," Police Officer Bryan Erickson wrote, in court documents.

Super Bowl LI is scheduled to take place on February 5th, with Harrison returning to court eight days later.
