New Zealand beat Ireland at Belfield earlier today

New Zealand's "Black Ferns" beat their Irish counterparts today at the Belfield Bowl in UCD to win their fifth match out of five on their end of year tour.

The world's number one ranked team backed up Thursday's 20-10 win over Canada to dispatch an Irish side who have endured a tough November series.

Although the Irish faced-off against the top three teams in the women's game on successive weekends, they have come up short on each occasion.

A narrow loss to England was followed by a comprehensive defeat to Canada. New Zealand have now added to those defeats as Ireland gear up to host next year's Women's Rugby World Cup.

A crowd of over 1,800 people looked on as Ireland matched their visitors in the first half with New Zealand only taking a 5-3 lead at the interval due to a try from Selicia Winiata. Nora Stapleton slotted a penalty for the hosts.

However, the Black Ferns upped the intensity in the second half and tries from Selica Winiata and Portia Woodman (x3) secured a comprehensive 38-8 win.

Niamh Kavanagh scored late on for the home side.
