Newcastle are trying to boost their chances of scoring more goals in the Premier League by bringing in a new face from French football.

The top flight strugglers have signed Senegalese international Henri Saivet from Bordeaux.

He joins on a five-and-a-half-year deal, arriving for an undisclosed fee.

The central midfielder scored 23 goals in 178 appearances for the French club.

Newcastle's top scorer this season is midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum with seven goals, ahead of forwards Ayoze Perez and Aleksandar Mitrovic who have four and three goals respectively.
