Newcastle United midfielder Jack Colback is reportedly being investigated for breaching betting rules in the Premier League.

Gambling rules were introduced in 2014 that forbid players and coaches from betting on any football activity worldwide.

It is understood that Colback didn't bet on Newcastle as they struggle to avoid relegation, but despite this he could face Football Association charges for breaking the regulations.

The FA have yet to comment on the case, due their policy of waiting until an individual is charged before making a public statement, but they are reportedly investigating allegations made about the player.

He would not be the only Premier League player to be disciplined this season, with Manchester City defender Martin Demichelis charged for 12 breaches of the rules back in January.
