Germany's Nico Rosberg has regained the lead in the Driver's Championship after winning the Singapore Grand Prix.

Rosberg started the race from pole position and held off the late charge of Daniel Ricciardo to win on the Marina Bay circuit for the first time. Rosberg's Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton finished in third.

It is the first time Rosberg has lead the standings since Hamilton took the lead after winning the Hungarian Grand Prix in July.

The win gives Rosberg an eight-point lead with six Grand Prix left this season. The Mercedes duo of Rosberg and Hamilton have won 14 of the 15 races this year, with the German winning eight of them.

Rosberg claimed on the podium after the race, that the car was running at the maximum near the end of the race. "We knew it would be tight at the end but we're really happy. The whole car was on the edge."

Sepang hosts the Malaysian Grand Prix in two weeks time, as Rosberg and Hamilton hope to continue their dominace over the rest of the field.
