Nicole Turner to be Ireland's flag-bearer at Paralympics Closing Ceremony

Paralympics Ireland have announced that Nicole Turner will be Ireland's flag-bearer in the Closing Ceremony on Sunday night.

The Laois swimmer, is the youngest member of the Irish team, and has performed brilliantly in Brazil. The 14-year-old competed in five events in Rio, and qualified for the finals of all the events. Her best finish was fifth in the 50-metre S6 Butterfly.

Rio 2016 has been an overwhelming success for Paralympics Ireland. The team have easily beaten the pre-Games target of eight medals. Going into the last day of competition, the team lie in 28th in the medal table with 11 medals, comprising of four golds, four silvers and three bronzes.

Kildare's Patrick Monahan will be the last Irish athlete in action at the Games. The 30-year-old takes part in the T52 Marathon at 4.30pm (Irish time).
