Northern Ireland make history with ten-game unbeaten run

Northern Ireland's impressive form ahead of Euro 2016 continued on Monday night with an impressive 1-0 win over Slovenia in Windsor Park.

Queens Park Rangers striker Conor Washington scored the game's only goal on his home debut for the team. The goal coincided with Washington's first visit to Northern Ireland. He qualifies for the team through his Belfast-born grandmother.

The 1-0 win set a record for Michael O'Neill's side. They are now unbeaten in ten games with the last defeat coming against Scotland in March 2015 in a Glasgow friendly.

Washington only joined the squad last week but has been impressed with what he has seen in the squad: "They are unbelievable boys to be fair. There is [sic] lads playing at the top level here. There is [sic] absolutely no egos and that is the recipe for success they have had to be honest. All the boys get on really well, on and off the pitch. It's evident on the pitch, that they fight tooth and nail for each other."

Northern Ireland return to action in May when they face Belarus in Windsor Park on May 27th. Four days later the Belarusians travel to Cork to play the Republic of Ireland in Turner's Cross.
