Novak Djokovic ceded his Shanghai Masters title this afternoon after a frustrating straight sets defeat to Roberto Bautista Agut.
The world number one vented his frustration as he broke his racket and ripped his shirt over the course of the two sets.
The 12-time Grand Slam champion was broken just once in his opening set against the Spaniard, but lost the first set 6-4 and struggled to find any sort of consistency in the decider.
He was broken three times in the second, going down to the same scoreline and struggled to eradicate errors in his game for a second consecutive match.
"This is one of those days," Djokovic told the Guardian. "Things go in an opposite direction than you want them, but again, it’s a lesson. Every day is a lesson."
The Serb has struggled for form since he won the French Open earlier this year. He was knocked out in the early rounds of Wimbledon and couldn't rediscover his form at the Olympic Games in Rio.
Djokovic had complained about the gruelling schedule and how it left him mentally tired after Wimbledon, but the 29-year-old has found it difficult to readjust to life on the ATP tour.
Andy Murray, meanwhile, faces Giles Simon in the other semi-final.
