Oakland Raiders lead Pro Bowl nominations

The rosters for the 2017 Pro Bowl were confirmed on Tuesday night, with the Oakland Raiders leading the nominees, having had seven players selected.

Oakland, who are the AFC West leaders, have seen stars such as quarterback Derek Carr and wide-receiver Amari Cooper make the team. The duo of course will hope not to play in the game. Each SuperBowl team don't send their players to the game, which takes place a week before the showpiece match.

After three years of drafting players by designated captains, the match returns to it conference format in January. The best players of the AFC will face their NFC rivals, in Orlando.

Tom Brady has received his 12th nomination to the Pro Bowl. The New England Patriots quarterback is still two nominations behind the record of 14, which is held by four players, including Peyton Manning.

One of the most striking omissions from the game is Drew Brees. The New Orleans quarterback is on course to throw for 5,000 yards for the fifth time in his career, this season. No other player has broken that record more than once.

Chicago, Detroit, New Orleans, San Francisco, Jacksonville and the New York Jets are the only teams not to have any representatives in the games.

The game takes place on January 29th in Orlando.
