Oakland Raiders step closer to Las Vegas move

In the past two seasons, two NFL franchises have moved cities and it looks like a third may be about to follow suit.

Oakland Raiders are one of the most famous teams in the league, yet they look set to move to Las Vegas. The Nevada city is without a team in any of America's major sports.

This October, Las Vegas Golden Knights, an ice-hockey team, will become the first side from the city to participate in one of America's big four leagues.

While the Raiders continue to tease a move to the Nevada desert, the team made a big step towards leaving Oakland, when it was confirmed that the three-time Super Bowl champions had secured funding for a new stadium.

The New York Daily News reported that the Raiders owners told the NFL on Monday that they had gathered the appropriate money. Bank of America will finance the building of the stadium.

Oakland's move to Las Vegas is sure to cause ructions among their fans. Raider Nation is among the most vocal and colourful of fans in the league.

A vote to allow the Raiders move to Las Vegas may be taken in the coming months.
