"One of the best 25 minutes a Galway team has produced" - Damien Comer savours provincial glory

Galway picked up their first Connacht SFC title in eight years this afternoon at Elverys MacHale Park with victory over Roscommon.

Kevin Walsh's side continue their impressive 2015/16 campaign and have already taken big scalps this season, none more so than Mayo in the Connacht semi-final.

Speaking after the game, Damien Comer said he was delighted with his side's performance and said they got it "tactically spot on".

"It was a tough 35 minutes," he told Off The Ball's Dave McIntyre. "I thought we controlled things very well. Our tactics again worked, we seemed to turn over so much ball.

"It was probably one of the best 20-25 minutes a Galway team has produced in football in a long, long time and  it was a joy to play in. Everyone just seemed to enjoy themselves."

Comer discussed the reaction to last week's draw against Roscommon and how the team picked themselves up after a disappointing result.

"They went into the dressing room thinking that they had pulled it back and we went into the dressing room thinking with the heads down. Kevin [Walsh] came in and pretty much gave us a going over for having the heads down. He said 'Look'it you're plying two Connacht finals in the same year, that's where you want to be'.

"That lifted spirits and we knew we threw it away so we couldn't rest on that."
