Jordan Sloan breaks Irish 100m Freestyle record at European Championships

Jordan Sloan has continued his impressive form in Copenhagen at the European Short Course Championships by breaking the Irish 100m Freestyle this morning

Sloan had already held the record of 48.13, which he recorded at the World Short Course Championships in Canada last year, but became the first Irishman to break the 48 second mark in this morning's heats as he set a new record of 47.84 seconds.

However, despite setting a new country record and finishing second in his heat, Sloan narrowly missed out on a place in the competition's final.

The Bangor man has this week broken the Irish record for 100m Freestyle, 200m Freestyle, and 400m Freestyle, but his week isn't over yet as he's set to compete in the 50m Backstroke tomorrow.

Sloan isn't the only Irishman breaking records in Denmark, with 19-year-old Conor Ferguson setting a new Irish Junior record for the Individual Medley. Ferguson had set the record himself last month in Dublin with a time of 55.84, before setting the new time of 55.41 earlier today.
