Team Ireland have a medal in the bag at the European Championships as Thomas Barr clinched bronze.

The Waterford athlete produced one of the performances of his career to come third for a bronze medal in the 400 metre hurdles final.

It's the Waterford natives first medal at international level, having come narrowly close at the 2016 Olympics when he finished fourth in the final by a slim margin.

He is also the first Irishman to medal at a sprint event at a European Championships.
