Unlike Conlan, it won't be his pro debut
Paddy Barnes has been confirmed to fight on the same St Patrick's Day fight card as Michael Conlan in 2017.
This week, it had been announced that Conlan would make his professional boxing debut at Madison Square Gardens, New York on March 17th after signing for Bob Arum's Top Rank promotions.
And now his fellow Belfast boxer and Olympian Barnes will be joining him on the same fight card.
However, it won't be Barnes' pro debut as he will fight on November 5th at Belfast's Titanic Exhibition Centre on the undercard of Jamie Conlan's Commonwealth title fight - although an opponent has yet to be confirmed.
Barnes' 2016 Olympics did not go as planned as he suffered an opening fight defeat to Samuel Carmona Heredia by split decision in Rio.
However, he won bronze medals at light flyweight at both London 2012 and Beijing 2008.
After Rio he announced that he would be leaving the amateur ranks and going pro. And in September, the 29-year-old signed with promoters MGM.
