Paddy Jackson captains Ulster as they travel to take on Cardiff

Les Kiss has named his squad for the Guinness PRO12 trip to play Cardiff Blues on Sunday.

Kiss had to count Rory Best, Stuart McCloskey, Jared Payne and Andrew Trimble all out thanks to international duty, but named Paddy Jackson as captain of the side.

Despite Craig Gilroy being called up to Joe Schmidt's Six Nations squad initially, he will return to action for Kiss' side this weekend, once again lining out alongside Jacob Stockdale and Stuart Olding. Sammy Arnold and Luke Marshall will start in midfield together for the first time.

John Andrew, who made his first Ulster start on Sunday, is retained at hooker and is joined in the front row by props Callum Black and Bronson Ross. Pete Browne and Franco van der Merwe will combine in the second row.

Nick Williams returns from injury to start at number 8, with Robbie Diack and Chris Henry operating as the other loose forwards. Paul Marshall, Darren Cave and Rory Scholes come in as backline replacements.

The squad in full is:
(15-9):
 Olding, Gilroy, Marshall, Arnold, Stockdale, Jackson (captain), Pienaar
(1-8): Black, Andrew, Ross, Browne, Van der Merwe, Diack, Henry, Williams;
Replacements

(16-23): Murphy, McCall, Lutton, Wilson, Reidy, Marshall, Cave, Scholes.
