Padraig Harrington has finished up best of the Irish on the opening day of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

The three-time major-winning golfer is on 2-under par with a round featuring five birdies, which is six shots behind outright leader Alex Noren.

The Swedish tournament leader is two clear of his compatriot Joakim Lagergren and Englishman Matt Ford.

Paul Dunne is on even par after dropping four shots on the back-nine, while Shane Lowry and Paul McGinley are on the same score.

Graeme McDowell is on 2-over par.
