Paralympics medallist withdraws after stating that it's not a level playing field anymore

A British Paralympic medallist has quit her sport because she is concerned that she has been competing against people who are far less disabled.

Bethany Woodward won a silver in the T37 200-metres athletics at London 2012.

She says it's not a level playing field anymore and the classification for cerebral palsy in particular is now too wide.

According to The Sunday Times, she said: "I represented my country for a long time but if I can’t compete like I used to compete, because they’ve brought in people who are not like me in terms of disability, what’s the point?"

The International Paralympic Committee says it is confident UK athletes are properly classified.

UK Athletics says it works with the IPC to make sure things are correct - and it is understood it will review procedures following the Rio Paralympics.
