Pat Fenlon joins Waterford FC as their Director of Football

Waterford FC have made a statement on intent ahead of the new First Division season, with the arrival of Pat Fenlon at the club as Director of Football.

Fenlon, who left Shamrock Rovers last season, joins the First Division club, with Alan Reynolds becoming Head Coach. Reynolds previously held a similar position with the club in 2004, as player-manager.#

After spending 35 years as Waterford United, the club will return to their original name of Waterford FC for the forthcoming season. The arrival of Fenlon and Reynolds puts the club in a strong position for promotion back to the Premier Division, where only one spot will be on offer this season.

The club were taken over by former Ireland Under-21 international Lee Power, as the club hope to return to their most successful era which saw six League title wins over a ten-year period in the 1960s and 70s.

"I am delighted to be involved in such an exciting project", Fenlon said. "Waterford has always been a great football city, with a fabulous history."

"Being director of football is a new and exciting role for me... I am looking forward to working closely with Alan Reynolds and will support him and the other technical staff in our efforts to bring success to the club."

The team begin their First Divison season, away to Athlone Town on February 24th.
