Pat Lam already preparing for "straight shoot-out" with Glasgow after Treviso loss

Connacht coach Pat Lam is already looking ahead to the "straight shoot-out" with Glasgow next week after Friday evening's shock loss to Treviso in Italy.

Full-back Jayden Hayward scored a penalty with the last kick of the game to give Treviso only their third win of the season. Connacht's bonus point also confirmed their place in the Pro12 play-offs.

"The whole dressing room is pretty gutted, because it's a game that we probably blew. We know we did, from the outcome.", Lam revealed after the 22-21 loss. At one point, the Galway-based side led 14-0.

Despite the loss, Lam said his side are already focusing on the game with Glasgow in Galway next weekend. The Scottish side moved to the top of the table on Friday night after a 70-10 win at home to Zebre.

"We're all determined now to get back, recover out of this game, get the whole squad and have a really good week into what is a massive game."

"We have a lot of pride in what we do. That's why we are bitterly disappointed. There's some really good rugby, but there are bits that we are not to happy about. We will have to learn from that."

Lam added that he is delighted the team play next weekend, as the loss to Treviso would have left a sour taste in the mouth for the summer it if was their final match. "It that was our last game of the season, it would be a killer. Now, we have ticked off the box of a semi-final. The home semi-final is not lost if we win next week."

Glasgow will go into the game next week, knowing a draw will be good enough for the side to finish ahead of Connacht in the table. If Connacht win, they will more than likely welcome the Scottish side back to The Sportsgrounds for their play-off.
