Pat Nevin believes Pep Guardiola will need to be more adaptable to thrive at Manchester City

Ex-Chelsea and Everton winger Pat Nevin believes Pep Guardiola will have allow himself to be more adaptable if he is to lead Manchester City to glory.

He suffered his first Premier League defeat on Sunday against Tottenham, days after a 3-3 draw at Celtic in the Champions League.

Guardiola's basic philosophy is well-known but finding more ways of playing is something Pat thinks needs to be added.

"He keeps on saying he's not going to change it, And the more you watched them at the weekend, you're thinking 'well, if you keep on doing that, exactly like that', I'm not sure it's going to keep on working absolutely perfectly to win you a league," he said on Off The Ball, adding that "adaptability has been a watchword for the very best managers".

"The game moves, the game changes. Every three or four years, everything's turned upside down."

Pat also wondered whether some of the City back-four are 100% confident in possession when pressed relentlessly.
