Pat Nevin believes David Moyes could rebuild his career at a Championship club after resigning as Sunderland manager.
After difficult periods in charge of Manchester United and Real Sociedad, Moyes struggled to prevent Sunderland from relegation from the Premier League and ultimately he and his team were unable to spark survival as they finished bottom, a full 16 points from safety.
Ex-Chelsea and Everton winger Nevin spoke to Off The Ball as Moyes' resignation was confirmed and feels the ex-Everton manager can look to relaunch his career in the second tier.
"The difficulty he's got now is where does he go from here? He's tried abroad, he's tried another Premier League side, people will begin to think he's a little bit toxic [as a managerial option] now. Personally, I think he'll get another chance in a Championship side," said Nevin.
"But I think that's where I think he needs to start off now."
On the Sunderland situation, Nevin feels any manager would have faced a tough task in keeping the club up this season, commenting, "I looked at the quality of those players there and thought 'how many of those would I take if I was another Premier League team? Two, maybe three maximum. No more than that'".
Nevin, who was at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, also found the John Terry 26th minute send off "hilarious" as the player was given a guard of honour en route to being substituted off in his final game with Chelsea, while he found the reaction was "even more funny".
