Paul Clement moves closer to Swansea job as Bayern Munich give green light for talks

Bayern Munich have given Swansea permission to speak to assistant manager Paul Clement about becoming their new manager.

If appointed, the 44 year old would succeed the sacked Bob Bradley at the Premier League's bottom side.

Swansea play Crystal Palace on Tuesday with Alan Curtis and Paul Williams currently in caretaker charge of the first team.

Bayern confirmed that they have allowed the assistant to their manager Carlo Ancelotti to speak to the Welsh club:

Clement was assistant to Ancelotti at Chelsea, Paris Saint Germain and Real Madrid before following the Italian to Bayern Munich ahead of this season when he replaced Pep Guardiola in Bavaria.

Highly thought of as a coach, Clement managed Championship side Derby County at the start of the 2015-16 season but was sacked in February 2016 despite the club being fifth in the second tier at the time.

Swansea have picked up just 12 points from 19 matches this season as they languish at the foot of the table.

Bradley had won just two of his 11 games in charge, having replaced Italian Francesco Guidolin earlier in a difficult campaign.
